Over 180 primary school children in and around Filey went on a musical tour around the world, thanks of Ebor Academy Filey.
A performing arts inspiration day on the theme of ‘Around the World’ was made up of different workshops run by music, drama, dance, musical theatre and vocal specialists from throughout the Ebor Academy Trust, which runs the secondary school.
“Braeburn Primary, Filey Junior School, Hunmanby Primary, Sherburn CE Primary, Bempton Primary, Hertford Vale and Burlington School joined us for a wonderful day to encourage primary school pupils to engage in learning through music and the performing arts, while developing the links with our local community,” said Mr Andrew Galbraith, Ebor Academy Filey headteacher.
“Every workshop supported and developed the requirements of the primary curriculum and it’s fair to say everyone had a great time.”
Children took part in workshops ranging from the traditional South African Gum Boot Dance to the Kabuki theatre tradition and the countries represented also included Spain, Scandinavia and New Zealand.
